Villagers in Uttar Pradesh will no longer need to travel to block or district headquarters for Aadhaar-related work, as the Yogi Adityanath government has launched an initiative to provide Aadhaar services directly at the Gram Panchayat level.

As part of a pilot project, Aadhaar service centres are being set up in 1,000 Gram Panchayats across the state, with installation of required equipment already underway. These centres will offer facilities such as new Aadhaar enrolment, updates, and authentication within the village itself.

Panchayati Raj Director Amit Kumar Singh said that Aadhaar service centres will be established in the Gram Sachivalaya of every Gram Panchayat. The centres will be operated by Gram Panchayat Assistants, creating local employment while ensuring accountability at the village level.

To ensure authorised and transparent operations, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued a Registrar ID and Empanelment Agency (EA) ID to the Panchayati Raj Department. This will enable the smooth delivery of Aadhaar enrolment and update services.

Officials said the initiative will simplify Aadhaar-related processes, reduce inconvenience for villagers, and strengthen their direct access to government welfare schemes. After reviewing the outcome of the pilot phase, the scheme will be expanded to all Gram Panchayats in a phased manner.

The government believes the move will boost digital empowerment in rural areas and support its vision of delivering essential services at the village level, reinforcing village-to-village development across Uttar Pradesh.
