Passengers must now board their train from the designated reservation station, as per the latest update in the railway system. The Railway Department has implemented a new rule, updating the Ticket Examiner’s (TTE) Hand Held Terminal (HHT) device to enforce automatic cancellation of reserved tickets if a passenger fails to board within 15 minutes of departure.

In response to the new rule, Divisional Commercial Inspector, Akhilesh Singh from Mau district has instructed passengers to board stations before time in order to protect their tickets from cancellation.

"Passengers should be cautious and board at their designated station to avoid losing their reserved seat," advised Singh.

Previously, passengers who missed their boarding station could still board at the next stop, and TTEs would wait for up to two stations before reallocating the seat. However, under the revised system, if the TTE finds a seat unoccupied within 15 minutes after departure, the reservation will be automatically canceled, making the seat available for RAC and waitlisted passengers.

This move aims to streamline seat allocation and enhance efficiency. Additionally, Indian Railways has digitised the TTE’s workflow, replacing traditional paper charts with updated HHT devices.

Important Advisory for Passengers:

-Ensure you board the train from your reserved station.

-Failure to do so will result in automatic ticket cancellation.

-Vacant seats will be immediately assigned to RAC and waitlisted passengers.
