In the current financial year, the Sugarcane Development Department aims to enhance its contribution toward the UP's goal of achieving a one-trillion-dollar economy. As part of its action plan, the department has set a gross value output (GVO) target of Rs 1,41,846 crore for the financial year. 

Additionally, efforts will be made to reduce reliance on government support. Previously, the department contributed Rs 1,09,461 crore to the GVO. Under the new target, Rs 1,03,038 crore is expected to come from sugarcane and Rs 38,808 crore from jaggery.

Currently, the department receives approximately Rs 1,200 crore in government assistance for running its schemes. To minimise this dependency, the average recovery percentage of the Sugar Mill Association will be increased from 9.56 per cent to 10.50 per cent. 

To prevent financial losses, a focus will be placed on the timely sale of 91.54 lakh quintals of sugar and expanding sugar mill storage capacity to four lakh quintals. Additionally, preparations have been made to recruit workers for sugar mills through outsourcing by May.
