Prayagraj Weather: The heatwave persisted in UP's Prayagraj, with temperatures reaching 46.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, making it the third hottest city in the state. There will be no reprieve from the sweltering heat and humidity in the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with no major shift in temperature expected over the next four days.
Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Kanpur are still experiencing searing heat, and maximum temperatures are expected to rise in the following days. Maximum temperature in Prayagraj was 46.3 degrees Celsius on Monday, followed by Varanasi airport (45.3), Hamirpur and Kanpur Indian Air Force station (45.2 each), Varanasi Banaras Hindu University station and Bulandshahr (45 each), Barabanki (44.4), Sultanpur (44.8), Rae Bareli (44.4), Bahraich and Aligarh (44.2 each), Basti (44), Mirzapur (43.8), Kanpur City (43.6) and Gorakhpur (43.1).
On Thursday, a two-wheeler abruptly caught fire and was burned to ashes, causing alarm in the Mundera area under the Dhoomanganj police station. Numerous reports of cars catching fire from the heat have recently been made.
Doctors have recommended citizens to stay indoors and avoid direct sunlight as the number of heat-related health concerns at government and private hospitals has surpassed 200.
It has been recommended that people take preventative actions and drink lots of water to stay hydrated. It has also been suggested to use homemade beverages and ORS.
Delhi, Gurgaon Battling Severe Heatwaves
With temperatures reaching above average, Gurgaon and Delhi are experiencing severe heatwaves. No reprieve is expected until June 18, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
