“As per the information received so far, Arun was an eye specialist and was battling with depression. The evidence discovered from the spot suggests he had used several injections before taking the extreme step. The details will be revealed after the post-mortem. The bodies of the doctor, his wife and two children (a daughter and a son) have been recovered,” Raebareli SP, Alok Priyadarshi revealed while talking to ANI.

A similar incident was reported in June this year, where a veterinary doctor allegedly murdered his wife, and their two young children before dying by suicide at Varvand village in Pune district.

The motive behind the killing, however, remained unclear. A suicide note was found in the doctor’s room where he mentioned he took the extreme step after a dispute with his wife. “Prima facie it seems that the deceased veterinarian might have killed his wife by strangling and later killed two children by drowning them at the nearest well,” a police official had said.
