To make Dehradun’s sanitation system more robust and effective, the Municipal Corporation is conducting a special monitoring campaign. As part of this campaign on Saturday, drones were used to monitor the city's main roads and public spaces, leading to strict action against those found littering in the open.
Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal has directed that strict action be taken against those who litter in open areas. Under the campaign, a joint team of chief sanitation inspectors, sanitation inspectors, and Municipal Corporation supervisors has been formed.

During the drone surveillance, individuals found littering in public places were fined on the spot. During this operation, Vivek Pal was fined Rs 800 for throwing rubbish on the roadside, while Chhote Lal Gupta was fined Rs 500.
In addition, five other individuals found littering have been issued show-cause notices. Municipal Corporation officials stated that continuous monitoring by drone is being carried out to maintain cleanliness in the city.
The Municipal Commissioner has instructed all chief sanitation inspectors to maintain strict vigilance in their respective areas and ensure that firm action is taken against those who litter in public places, in accordance with regulations.
The Dehradun Municipal Corporation has appealed to the city's residents to follow cleanliness rules, dispose of rubbish only in designated areas, and cooperate in keeping the city clean, beautiful, and healthy. Officials have made it clear that such strict action against those who are negligent towards cleanliness will continue in the future.
