Uttarakhand Govt Sanctions Rs 5.19 Cr For River Rejuvenation, Water Conservation Works In Pauri And Nainital

The Uttarakhand government has taken a significant step towards the rejuvenation of natural water sources and rain-fed rivers. Under the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA), Rs 5.19 crore has been sanctioned for water conservation and groundwater recharge in the tributaries and catchment areas of two rivers in Pauri and one in Nainital.

The Uttarakhand government is taking serious steps to rejuvenate natural water sources and rain-fed rivers. In this connection, under the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA), the administration has sanctioned Rs 5.19 crore for water conservation work in the tributaries and catchment areas of two rivers in Pauri district and one in Nainital district, as well as for works related to recharge shafts for groundwater recharge in Haldwani, Kotabagh and Ramnagar. 

In Pauri district, water and soil conservation works will be carried out in the catchment areas of the Irgaad, Paidul, Nishni, Syul and Rachhuli tributaries of the Western Nayar river. In the same district, various works will be undertaken in the catchment area of the Hinval River to increase water augmentation in drinking water schemes.

Water conservation works will also be carried out in the catchment areas of the Thua, Kuleti, Ukina and Kutiyakhal tributaries of the Shipra River in Nainital district. 

Meanwhile, Dinesh Bhandari, President, and Pradeep Kukreti, General Secretary of the Ganga Salan Development Committee (Ganga Salan Vikas Samiti), have expressed their gratitude to the government for sanctioning the works for water augmentation in drinking water schemes and river rejuvenation in the catchment areas of the Hinval river in the Yamkeshwar area.

They also suggested that the work in the catchment areas should be carried out on a scientific basis.
