Spain Princess Leonor Turns 18: Remaining quite private for most of her life so far, Spain’s Princess Leonor became a major sensation yesterday, October 31, when she turned 18 and took an oath to the nation’s Constitution. Not that she was not a known name before her birthday, but the 18-year-old remained private during her education and only now made a major public appearance that will impact the nation in more ways than one. The young princess also reportedly received a standing ovation during the joint session by the Spanish Congress and Senate members. Born to King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, who are also the current Royal couple of Spain, she was welcomed by her parents in 2005 in Spain’s Madrid. 

Another reason why Princess Leonor is being hailed by many is because she is believed to have renewed her family's royal reputation after it was drained over the mounting accusations on her grandfather, King Juan Carlos. From harassment case by former lover to money laundering accusations, the future queen’s grandfather made major headlines in the country for some questionable reasons. 

With Leonor turning 18 and taking the oath, the people of her nation were more than excited to greet and celebrate her birthday. Taking to social media, people greeted the future queen of Spain for her birthday.

“Happy birthday to the crown princess of Spain, Princess Leonor,” a user said. 

“Princess Leonor with Queen Letizia,” said another.

"Children born into absolute privilege often grow up to be frivolous narcissists. PrincessLeonor, heir to the Spanish throne, is just the opposite: a serious, hard-working, multilingual, highly sophisticated young woman, she has assumed her role with great integrity and humility," said a third.
