Candace Owens has reignited a political media storm by turning her criticism toward Turning Point USA (TPUSA), questioning the credibility of the conservative organisation’s much-publicised “All-American” halftime event that ran parallel to the Super Bowl. While millions of viewers were focused on the Super Bowl broadcast and the surrounding cultural conversation, TPUSA staged its own online halftime event, reportedly headlined by Kid Rock. Organisers promoted the show as a major digital success, claiming millions of live viewers, but those figures quickly became the centre of controversy.
Owens Questions Viewership Claims
Owens publicly challenged the numbers, arguing that the maths did not add up. “No, this is not a possible result if you truly had 5.2 million live viewers,” she said, adding, “Sorry America, everything is still fake and gay until further notice.” Her comments rapidly circulated across YouTube, Instagram and X.
The remarks intensified debate over digital analytics and political branding. Critics of TPUSA say inflated viewership damages credibility, while supporters argue that livestream numbers often fluctuate due to platform delays and backend processing.
The dispute comes at a sensitive moment for TPUSA, which has faced internal strain and public speculation in recent months. Owens has increasingly clashed with the organisation’s leadership, and the halftime event controversy has further exposed those fractures.
Owens Targets Fox News Appearance
Owens also criticised a recent Fox News appearance by Charlie Kirk, questioning the sincerity of his remarks about transparency in the justice system. She suggested the statements were performative rather than substantive.
In a striking claim, Owens said Turning Point USA closely monitors her podcast. Reading from an open letter addressed to Erika Kirk, she said she believed her messages were being relayed internally, even thanking the organisation for paying attention to her content. Owens spent more than 20 minutes reading the letter aloud, using it to address not only Erika Kirk but also other TPUSA executives, signalling that the clash goes beyond a single event.
