US President Donald Trump, during his State of Union address, praised the USA hockey team for winning the prestigious Winter Olympics gold medal. While announcing the Presidential Medal of Freedom for men's hockey team goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck, he asserted that the US has been "winning too much" since his return to the office. Earlier on Sunday, USA men's hockey team won the gold medal for the first time in 45 years by defeating Canada in Milan-Cortina 2026 games.
In his address, the US president asserted that the country is "winning again" since his return, adding that the hockey team made the nation proud by winning the gold medal. "Our country is winning again. In fact, we're winning so much that we really don't know what to do about it. People are asking me, Please, please, please, Mr. President, we're winning too much. We can't take it anymore," Trump said.
'Winning Too Much'
"We're not used to winning in our country until you came along with just always losing, but now we're winning too much. I say, No, no, no, you're going to win again. You're going to win big. You're going to win bigger than ever. To prove that point, here with us tonight is a group of winners who just made the entire nation proud, the Men's Gold medal Olympic Hockey Team," he added.
Trump further congratulated the hockey team and assured that the American women will also visit the White House soon. "They beat a fantastic Canadian team in overtime, as everybody saw, as did the American women who will soon be coming to the White House," Trump assured.
Following their gold medal win, both men's and women's hockey teams were invited to the White House; However, the women's team could not attend the event due to the prior committments.
