Amid challenging periods inflicted by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has introduced a unique initiative for passengers. An extremely popular international destination, Dubai which came under Iran’s retaliatory attack saw massive travel disruptions in the first week of conflict.
The military escalation between the United States, Israel and Iran had led to the closure of several airspaces in Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While the flight operations resumed, chaos and panic remained among passengers. To ease passengers’ worries and give them a sweet memory to remember from their Dubai trip, the airport came up with a new idea.
What Is Dubai Airport Giving To Passengers?
The airport distributed small souvenir packs and personalised notes to departing passengers to thank them for their visit. According to Gulf News, the souvenirs include Dubai-themed fridge magnets featuring the Burj Khalifa and a license plate magnet featuring the Dubai skyline, among others. The gesture has won widespread appreciation, with passengers sharing their experiences on social media.
User Shares Personal Account
An Instagram user, who had gone to drop off her parents at Dubai airport, shared the experience of receiving the gift. Posting the pictures of souvenirs, she wrote in the caption: “Dubai, you’ve done it again! Going that extra mile to put a smile on someone’s face, showing you care, getting people to see your heart in all things. Just dropped off my parents at the airport and they were given this token of appreciation. My parents are happy to be going back home because their doctors and medicines are all back home.”
The note from Dubai airport to her parents read as: “As you depart, please accept this small token of appreciation on behalf of Dubai. We're truly appreciative of the way you have handled the unique situation over the past few days. Dubai always prioritises the safety and wellbeing of all citizens, residents and visitors, and we hope you saw this for yourself. We wish you a safe return and look forward to welcoming you back.”
