A viral video alleging that a Korean content creator was harassed during Holi celebrations in India while dressed as a pregnant woman has sparked widespread outrage on social media. The video, which was shared by multiple accounts on social media, is now going crazy viral. Users are now pointing fingers over women's safety in India, while others contest the authenticity of the video.

Twist in viral video case
However, a twist came up after the creator himself, Sumin, has dismissed the claims, saying the clip was manipulated to spread misinformation and provoke anti-India sentiment. The creator clarified that he is a man and had dressed like a pregnant woman.
Taking to Threads, Sumin clarified that the viral footage is a misleading compilation of videos from two separate countries and occasions. He explained that the segment showing him pretending to be a pregnant woman was filmed in Bangladesh, while the Holi festival visuals were shot during his visit to India last year.

The edited clip falsely claimed that Sumin was inappropriately touched and harassed during Holi celebrations in India while dressed as a pregnant woman.

What did Sumin say?
Responding to the controversy, Sumin said he was disturbed by the misuse of his content and accused people of deliberately twisting his videos to spread hate.
“The footage featuring a ‘pregnant woman’ persona was filmed in Bangladesh, not India,” he clarified, adding that linking the clip to Holi celebrations in India was factually incorrect.
Sumin also rejected claims that he was cross-dressing during Holi, saying he appeared as himself in the India footage and that assumptions based on his long hair were misleading.
He stressed that his content is meant for cultural exploration and entertainment, not to mock or target any country or community. Sumin further warned that he may report manipulated edits of his videos to protect his reputation and intellectual property.
“The pretending to be pregnant happened in Bangladesh, while the Holi footage is from India. Someone edited them together just to make it look provocative,” he said.
