Amid the rising tensions in the Middle East, Indian schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced an early end-of-year break for students. The decision was taken after revising all academic calendars, ensuring examinations and results are conducted as per the scheduled timings.
Spring break will commence from March 9 to end on March 22, 2026. The break applied to all students and to academic and administrative staff across public and private schools and universities. Classes and official working hours will resume on Monday, March 23.

The principals of the Indian curriculum schools assured parents and students that despite the changes, their education would not be compromised at any cost. At Shining Star International School in Abu Dhabi, principal Abhilasha Singh said that the exams concluded on Friday. “Our exams concluded on Friday, March 6. The examination period began on February 16, and both our primary and secondary students have now completed their assessments. Last week’s exams were conducted online, so there has been no disruption to the students’ examination schedule,” the Khaleej Times quoted Singh as saying. She further added that the teachers will continue to compile and finalise results, considering the uncertain times.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAE, have announced spring break for students and academic and administrative staff across schools and universities in the UAE.
In Dubai's Springdale School, Principal David Jones said that the Term 3 exams were midway when the spring break was announced. “In Indian curriculum schools, we do not typically observe a spring break. Instead, we conduct our end-of-year examinations, after which students go on their term break,” he said.
To accommodate the revised schedule, remaining exams will be conducted online between 9am and 10am, with question papers tailored so students can complete them within an hour. Grades 6 to 8 will sit for Mathematics, Science, and English exams starting tomorrow.
As the war situation continues in the Middle East, CBSE has again postponed the March 9 and 10 exams in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. This is the fourth time the CBSE Board Exams 2026 for Classes 10 and 12 in these countries have been postponed due to the current situation. The Board has also stated that it will monitor the situation on March 10 and take appropriate decisions regarding examinations scheduled from March 12 onwards.
