Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has laid out Tehran's conditions for ending the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, which began on February 28. This comes after US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed Washington had already won the war against Iran. However, he added that the US forces would not be withdrawn from the region to complete the mission.

Trump Claims Victory

Addressing a rally in Hebron, Kentucky, Trump announced that the US military had already secured victory. "You never like to say too early, you won. We won! In the first hour it was over," Trump said. He praised the US forces for crushing Iran's naval power and giving a major blow to its military capabilities. "We knocked out 58 Iranian naval ships," Trump said.

In a separate announcement, Trump claimed that the war would end "anytime soon." However, he didn't specify how it would be and whether Iran has agreed or not. "Little this and that...Any time I want it to end, it will end," Trump told Axios. Meanwhile, Iran launched a fresh wave of attacks towards Israel on Thursday, signaling that it still is at war.

What Are Iran's Demands?

Amid this, Iran President Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the Middle East. In his conversation with Russia and Pakistan Prime Ministers, Pezeshkian outlined three conditions to end the ongoing "war." The demands include recognising the legitimate rights of Iran, payment of reparations, and international guarantees against future military aggression. Tehran is seeking a guarantee that neither the US nor Israel will strike the country again after the current conflict ends. It has also demanded compensation for wrongful acts, injuries, or damages during the conflict.

Pezeshkian wrote on X, "Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war—ignited by the Zionist regime & US—is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int'l guarantees against future aggression."

While Iran has set the conditions, Trump has not addressed any of them in his statements. Earlier, Iran on Tuesday had ruled out the possibility of reaching a ceasefire with the US and Israel. Iran Parliament speaker, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Tehran would continue to respond to attacks against the country.
