Iran-US Ceasefire Talks Live: Trump Says Hormuz 'Will Soon Be Open'; Another Round Of Negotiations Likely Soon

Representative of Iran's Supreme Leader in India, Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, said that Iran has always been doubtful about the US's intention towards negotiation.

"I don't know what they want to do because they want, they say that the Strait of Hormuz should be open and at the same time they are going to blockage around the Strait of Hormuz. It is paradoxical things," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he sought a "true peace pact" with Lebanon.

Lebanon's Health Ministry stated that at least 2,000 people have been killed in the Israeli attacks since March 2.

In a post on X, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will continue to fight Iranian "terror regime". "Israel under my leadership will continue to fight Iran’s terror regime and its proxies, unlike Erdogan who accommodates them and massacred his own Kurdish citizens," he said.

The first phase of negotiation talks between US and Iran concluded on Saturday, with two sides now exchanging texts, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Another round of talks between US and Iran will be held either tonight or tomorrow, reported Reuters, citing Iranian state-affiliated Nour news reports.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday spoke with Iran's President Massoud Pezeshkian and urged him to use the opportunity of ceasefire talks to establish peace in the region.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "We're now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz," describing it as a favour to countries such as China, Japan and France that "don't have the Courage or Will to do this work themselves."

French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday said that he spoke with Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian and urged him to use ongoing talks in Islamabad to pursue lasting de-escalation and an agreement ensuring strong regional security guarantees.

Two US warships transited the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, marking the first such transit since the war with Iran began on February 28, news agency AFP reported.

Face-to-face talks took place in Islamabad between the US and Iranian negotiators. The US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, met the Iranian delegation, headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Iran's parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaking shortly after arriving in Pakistan's capital, said past negotiations with the United States have led to a lack of trust. "We have good intentions but we do not trust," Iranian media quoted Ghalibaf as saying.

"Our experience in negotiating with the Americans has always been met with failure and broken promises," he added.

The Israeli military on Saturday said it struck more than 200 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon within the last 24 hours.

"In the last 24 hours, the IDF struck more than 200 Hezbollah terror targets in Lebanon. The Israeli air force continues to strike Hezbollah infrastructure and aid the ground forces operating in southern Lebanon," the military said.

Trilateral ceasefire talks between the United States, Iran and Pakistan have started in Islamabad. The talks are being held face-to-face between Witkoff, Vance, Kushner and Iran's Qalibaf, Araqchi and Pakistan's army chief, Asim Munir.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday posted that the United States military has started to clear the Strait of Hormuz and that all of Iran's minelaying ships have been sunk. "We're now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz," Trump wrote in a social media post.

Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran's first vice president, said on Saturday US-Iran peace talks could produce a deal if US officials worked in the interest of their country in line with President Donald Trump's "America First" doctrine.

"However, if we face representatives of Israel First,' there will be no deal," Aref said in a social media post. He warned that "the world will face greater costs," if the talks failed and the US and Israel resumed the war against Iran.

High-stakes talks involving Iran, the United States, and Pakistan have begun in Islamabad, Reuters reported, citing Pakistani sources.

Iran's state-run news channel, Islamic Republic of Iran News Network, on Saturday warned that ongoing talks could still be cancelled if Tehran's preconditions are not met. The report said that withdrawing from talks that do not respect Iran's 'interests, demands and red lines' could itself be framed as an 'achievement,' reflecting what Iranian officials describe as a strategy of 'assertive diplomacy.'

The Iranian negotiating delegation met for a second time on Saturday with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff in Islamabad, following their previous meeting on Friday night.

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that large numbers of completely empty oil tankers were heading to the United States to load up with oil and gas.

"Massive numbers of completely empty oil tankers, some of the largest anywhere in the World, are heading, right now, to the United States to load up with the best and "sweetest" oil and gas anywhere in the World. We have more oil than the next two largest oil economies combined - and higher quality," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

His post came as senior US and Iranian officials were meeting on Saturday in Islamabad with Pakistani intermediaries as Tehran laid down its red lines that it said Washington must accept before face-to-face talks could take place to end their six-week-old war.

The Iranian delegation has handed over the peace proposal and red lines to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is mediating the peace talks between the US and Iran, in Islamabad today. The red lines which Iran has shared with Sharif include its demands on the Strait of Hormuz, the release of Iranian assets by the US and a ceasefire across the middle east region.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a key meeting with US Vice President JD Vance before the scheduled peace talks with the Iranian delegation. Commending the commitment of both delegations to engage constructively, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that these talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region.

Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref on Saturday said that a deal was possible with the US if it focused on ‘America First’ instead of ‘Israel First’. His remarks come as high-level US and Iranian delegations prepare to begin ceasefire negotiations in Islamabad on Saturday, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed al-Jadaan is in Islamabad to show economic support for Pakistan as the country is hosting US-Iran talks aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

A White House official on Saturday denied reports that Washington has agreed to unfreeze Iranian assets.

Earlier in the day, Reuters reported, citing a senior Iranian source, that the United States had agreed to release frozen Iranian funds held in Qatar and other foreign banks. However, Washington has denied such reports.

Islamabad is hosting US-Iran peace talks today, with delegations from both countries present in the Pakistani capital. The high-stakes negotiations are taking place at the Serena Hotel.

Iranian Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that the US should accept Tehran's rights if it wants deal. He made the remarks after arriving in Pakistan on Saturday.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Saturday that he hoped the United States and Iran would engage constructively in peace talks. According to a statement from Pakistan's foreign ministry, Dar reiterated Islamabad's desire to continue facilitating the parties to reach a "lasting and durable solution to the conflict."

According to news agency AFP, the two delegations will sit in separate rooms with Pakistan acting as a mediator to facilitate talks.

According to Tasnim news agency, Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baghir Ghalibaf is scheduled to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at noon.

According to US Intelligence reprot, China is preparing weapons shipment to Iran amid talks over ceasefire in Islamabad.

US Vice President JD Vance said before leaving for Islamabad that the US is open to talks if Iran negotiates in good faith. He added that the US wants a “positive negotiation,” but warned that if Iran tries to mislead them, the US team will not be receptive.

According to a notice issued on Friday said, Pakistan has declared a holiday today in Islamabad. “It is notified that April 11, 2026 (Saturday), is hereby declared a local holiday within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory, except for offices of essential services, including MCI, CDA, ICT Administration, ICT Police, IESCO, SNGPL and hospitals,” the notice read.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the upcoming US-Iran talks in Islamabad are a “make or break” chance to secure a permanent ceasefire. He called the negotiations a major step toward resolving the conflict through dialogue.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the US-Iran talks scheduled to begin shortly in Islamabad. His spokesperson said."He calls on the parties to seize this diplomatic opportunity to engage in good faith toward a lasting and comprehensive agreement, with a view to deescalation and the prevention of a return to hostilities."

Ahead of the Islamabad talks, President Donald Trump said that the US has one main demand from Iran: it must not develop nuclear weapons. He described it as the key condition, saying, “No nuclear weapon. That’s 99% of it.”
