Israel-US-Iran War: Iran's Supreme National Security Council on Tuesday confirmed the death of its chief Ali Larijani, one of the country's prominent figures in the ongoing war, after Israel informed about his killing in an air strike. The council further informed that along with Larijani, his son and his bodyguard also died with him. Iran, following the death of Larijani, has vowed to intensify the attacks on Israel and the US bases in the Middle East.
In its post, the ISNSC confirmed his death hours after Israel informed that it killed two of prominent Iranian security official in an air strike. "The pure souls of the martyrs embraced the purified soul of God's righteous servant, Martyr Dr Ali Larijani," the council said in its post.
"After a lifetime of struggle for the advancement of Iran and of the Islamic Revolution, he ultimately attained his long-held aspiration, answered the divine call, and honourably achieved the sweet grace of martyrdom in the trench of service," it added.

Tehran Vows Retaliation
Iran's army chief Amir Hatami, in a statement, has threatened to launch decisive and deterrent response for the killing of Larijani. "At the appropriate time and place, a decisive, deterrent, and regretful response will be given to the criminal America and the bloodthirsty Zionist regime," Hatami said in his statement.
How Prominent Was Larijani?
The 67-year-old leader was considered right-hand of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and was believed to be the decision maker as Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's new supreme leader reportedly remains injured. As per the reports, many viewed Larijani as the leader running the regime's daily operations, particularly security affairs and negotiations with the West.
He previously served as an IRGC commander, Speaker of Parliament, and national security chief. Disqualified from the 2021 presidential race to favour Ebrahim Raisi, he had recently regained prominence as Khamenei's top adviser amid waves of assassinations, including major losses in June 2025.
