1. Born as Michael Gerard Tyson in a Brooklyn slum, Mike's childhood was traumatic and troubled. His mother was a prostitute and young Mike was unknown about his real father's identity for a very long time. Tyson was arrested 38 times till he turned 13 years old for petty crimes.

2. Tyson lived in high-crime neighbourhoods till he turned 15. It was during his time at Tryon School for Boys, a correctional facility for youth in Johnstown, New York, that his talent and aggression were identified by Bobby Stewart, a juvenile detention centre counsellor and former boxer.

3. Stalwart considered Tyson an "outstanding fighter" and trained him briefly before introducing him to boxing manager Cus D'Amato. Cus not only trained managed and assisted the young Mike, but after his mother died at the age of 16, Cus also acted as his legal guardian.

4. Tyson made his professional debut at the age of 18 in 1985 and won 26 of his first 28 fights by knockout or technical knockout. He won 16 of these fights in the first round itself.

5. On November 22, 1986, Tyson faced Trevor Berbick in his first title fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship. Tyson secured the title with a second-round TKO, becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in history at just 20 years and 4 months old.
