United States President Donald Trump was reportedly stunned during a recent intelligence briefing when told that Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, may be "gay". US intelligence agencies claim that Mojtaba may have had a long-term relationship with his childhood tutor. The revelation comes amid reports of how Mojtaba narrowly escaped the attack that killed his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
US Intelligence Makes Explosive Claim
According to the New York Post report, citing US intelligence agencies, officials believe Mojtaba may have made "aggressive" advances towards male caregivers while recovering from injuries sustained on February 28. One of the sources quoted in the report claimed that Mojtaba's relationship lasted for years, while another added that the alleged partner was someone who previously worked for the Khamenei family.
How Mojtaba Khamenei Escpaed The Attack?
Iran‘s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had escaped the attack, sustaining minor injuries to his leg. According to The Telegraph report, citing a leaked audio between Iranian officials, Mojtaba was also targeted in the same attack that killed his father and several Iranian leaders. He survived air strikes as he had stepped outside for a walk in his garden minutes before his home was hit by missiles on February 28. Head of protocol for Ali Khamenei’s office, Mazaher Hosseini, in his address to senior clerics and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders on March 12, detailed the first account of what had happened inside Khamenei's compound when it came under attack.
Hosseini revealed that although Mojtaba survived the attack, he sustained minor injuries to his leg. Mojtaba's wife and son were killed and his brother-in-law was decapitated in the attack. The officials noted that the body of Mohammad Shirazi, chief of Khamenei’s military bureau, was also “blown to pieces”.
The leaked recording describes the horrific devastation caused by the attack. The Ballistic missiles had slammed into the compound the moment Mojtaba exited the building. One missile landed in the section where Khamenei was located, while a second missile struck Mojtaba's residence on the upper floor.
Hosseini also disclosed that a missile struck the home of Mojtaba's brother-in-law, Misbah al-Huda Bagheri Kani. He was also present within the same complex. The missile strike was so powerful that it pierced through the upper floor and penetrated all the way down to the lower levels of the house, killing Kani.
Mojtaba Lived In Same Compound
Mojtaba lived in the same compound as his father in Theran. The compound included a religious hall where Khamenei used to give speeches, and houses of his children as well. On the first day of the strike, Khamenei and senior security officials had gathered for a meeting when missiles launched by the US and Israel hit the compound, killing many of them.
