In a heartwarming incident in Kansas, US, a pet dog assisted police officers in finding its owner after the man fell and was unable to get up. Police in Leawood shared bodycam footage capturing how the dog guided an officer to the house.

What happened?

The police official noticed the pet dog while he was patrolling in the Leawood area on Thursday. The dog was on a leash, but its owner was not nearby. It barked at the officer, who greeted the dog and asked it to go back home. The officer then returned to his car and followed the dog for about half a block to its home.

The official then accompanied the pet dog up the driveway, where another dog greeted them. He then noticed that the garage door was open. Upon entering the garage, the officer found the homeowner lying on the floor. Police said the man had been lying there for over than three hours. According to the police, the dog helped them to find the owner. He was then treated by medical professionals and is now recovering at home, the Leawood police department said.
