US Midterm Election Results: The results of the US midterm elections have sent a shockwave among the Republican supporters, with Democrats registering victory even in the ruling party's strongholds. While reacting to the results, business tycoon Elon Musk, who spent a large amount of money in favour of the Republicans, took a dig in a post on X. Musk stated that his supposed "election-interfering space lasers" could not benefit the ruling party in the midterm polls.

Elon Musk Takes Dig

Soon after the results were announced, Musk shared back-to-back two posts in an attempt to take a dig at the gains of the Democrats. The Republicans even lost in Texas, where the President Donald Trump-led party held an aggressive campaign. James Talarico, senator-elect from Texas, while highlighting the costly campaign from Republicans, slammed Musk and Donald Trump in his victory speech.

"We were the underdogs in this race...we went up against more than $300 million, more than any Senate campaign in American history; we went up against all of the negative ads, smear campaigns, foreign bots and AI deepfakes that money can buy," he said in Austin.

Musk's Campaign For Republicans

Along with promoting the Republican candidates on social media, Musk also spent a huge amount of money during the campaign. However, this was not new for the business tycoon, as he successfully supported Donald Trump during the presidential polls in 2024. However, his efforts failed to benefit the Republican candidates; hence, came the sarcastic post. Along with Musk, several other tech giants are also expected to be disappointed with the results, as the stock market trend suggests.

Donald Trump Reacts After Setback

While his party faced humiliating defeats even in its strongholds, the US president still believes his policies are popular among the Americans. While reacting to the losses, Trump stated that the results would have been very different if he would have contested, suggesting the verdict was not against him.
