India on Thursday slammed Pakistan over terrorism and religious freedom, pointing out that while the terrorists are being protected, the victims did not get justice. Indian diplomat Bhavika Mangalanandan, while speaking at the United Nations, also reminded that while Islamabad abandoned the dead bodies of its soldiers after the Kargil War in 1999, the Indian Army buried them with honour. The remark came in counter to Pakistan's rhetoric on faith, religious freedom and burials.

India Reminds Pak Of Its Conduct

Bhavika Mangalanandan stated that while Pakistan talks about religious freedom and burials, it refused to accept the dead bodies of its soldiers in 1999. She further reminded that the Indian Army buried their dead bodies with military honours and as per the Islamic rites.

"It is deeply ironic that a state that did not even accept the bodies of its own soldiers who were killed in combat in 1999 in Kargil, unabashedly speaks with a fervour on faith, religious freedom and burials. Let me remind them that it was the Indian Army who buried a number of Pakistani soldiers with military honours and in accordance with Islamic rites," Bhavika Mangalanandan said at the UN.

'Pak Spreading Misinformation'

India also criticised Pakistan for its misuse of the international forum to spread misinformation regarding Jammu and Kashmir and terrorism. Mangalanandan suggested the neighbouring nation focus on its own issues, asserting that human rights are being violated in multiple parts of Pakistan.

"Pakistan’s deep obsession with the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir should be directed at the developments underway in the parts of Jammu and Kashmir under its illegal occupation, such as Rawalakot," the Indian diplomat pointed out.

Earlier last week, Lok Sabha MP Mahima Kumari Mewar, while speaking at India's right of reply in the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly, reminded Islamabad of its brutal action against the civilians. "In the last few months, the Pakistani armed forces and their proxies have killed dozens of innocent civilians who were agitating for their basic rights and freedoms and basic necessities," she asserted.
