Nobel Peace Prize: The announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize appeared as a pun for Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has been constantly flattering US President Donald Trump by nominating him for the prestigious award. South African jurist of Indian origin Navanethem "Navi" Pillay, who won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, blasted Trump with her light-hearted joke.

Taking a jibe at Trump, whose name was once again pushed by Sharif for the Nobel Peace Prize, Pillay said If they clap a little bit more, she might share the prize with Trump, triggering a wave of laughter in the hall, NDTV reported.

"Thank you very much. If you clap a little bit more, I may share this prize with Trump (Laughter and more applause). Firstly, at this venue, your applause means a great deal to me. You know, you don’t want to receive an award, prize or anything unless the public agrees that you deserve this. So that’s how I appreciate your applause today," she said after hearing the news about her name being picked for the prize.

"I think it’s very appropriate that I’m with friends and colleagues, all of whom support human rights. The last thing I did was the delivery of the report on Gaza, naming what’s happening there as genocide. One of the main reactions to that report is paying tribute to me for my courage. And you can imagine how surprised I was. Why would you need courage to speak the truth? You see the facts, you interpret the law, and you take an impartial decision," she said, recalling her stand on the Gaza killings.
