A Mexican television host accidentally struck a Colombian model in the face after kicking a drone in frustration during a live broadcast, leaving her injured and prompting widespread reactions on social media.

The incident took place on October 26 during Es Show, an entertainment programme broadcast on Canal 6, operated by Multimedios, in Monterrey, Mexico, according to media reports.

A video of the incident shows host Ernesto Chavana appearing irritated as a small production drone hovered near him on the studio set. In a moment of frustration, he kicked the device, sending it flying upwards and directly into the face of Colombian model and dancer Isabella Rojas, popularly known on the show as La Colombiana.

Rojas immediately bent over in pain and had to leave the set temporarily to receive medical attention. Other members of the programme's cast rushed to help her as confusion unfolded in the studio.

The model later shared an update with her social media followers, revealing that the impact had left her with a cut on her lip. She subsequently returned to the programme after receiving medical care. Reports indicated that her injuries were minor, although no detailed medical update was made public.

Video Goes Viral, Sparks Backlash

Footage of the incident quickly circulated online, drawing criticism from social media users who questioned the host's reaction after the model was struck.

Several users criticised Chavana for allegedly continuing to shout about removing the drone rather than immediately checking on Rojas or apologising to her. Others called for the host and the show's production team to be held accountable.

The incident triggered a wider debate about professionalism and safety during live television broadcasts, particularly when production equipment is operated in close proximity to presenters and performers.

Host Apologises After Incident

Following the backlash, Chavana publicly apologised and said he would take responsibility for what had happened. Representatives of the production team also reportedly confirmed that the costs associated with the incident would be covered.

The episode has drawn renewed attention to the risks associated with using drones and other equipment in live studio environments, where an unexpected movement can quickly turn into an on-air accident.
