Iran has been hit with a devastating overnight strike by Israel on its oil depots in Tehran, causing a massive fire that lit up the sky over a long radius. As many as four key fuel depots and a petroleum products transport centre in the capital city were targeted by Tel Aviv.
Speaking about the airstrike, Tehran Governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian said that fuel supply in the capital city has been disrupted. "Due to damage to the fuel supply network, distribution has been temporarily interrupted," he said, adding that the problem was being resolved.
Keramat Veyskarami, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, said to state TV, "Last night, four oil depots and a petroleum products transport centre in Tehran and the Alborz were attacked by enemy aircraft".
He added that four personnel, including two oil tanker drivers, were killed in the incident.
The shocking video of the ravaging fire has been widely shared on social media as huge flames with a thick plummet of smoke could be seen emanating from a distance.

The smoke hung over the capital and left a dark haze across the city, as witnessed early in the morning.
The residents reported smell of burning in the air as the atmosphere was filled with hot gases. In the wake of the attack, the Iranian Red Crescent has warned of dangerous acid rain in the capital city due to the release of toxins in the air.
The Red Crescent said that the blasts have resulted in the release of "significant quantities of toxic hydrocarbon compounds, sulfur, and nitrogen oxides” in the air.

It said that in the event of precipitation, the resulting rain will be highly acidic and extremely dangerous. The environmental authorities in Iran have urged people to stay indoors to avoid respiratory issues and other health problems.
