Ukraine-Russia War: Russian authorities on Sunday confirmed that their air defence systems had shot down 19 Ukrainian drones over the Leningrad region amid an ongoing series of attacks on critical infrastructure.

Officials said debris from one of the destroyed drones struck an oil pipeline near the Baltic port of Primorsk, prompting a controlled fuel burn as a precautionary measure. Regional governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed the incident. No casualties were reported, AFP reported.

Earlier, Ukrainian drones targeted Russia's NORSI oil refinery in the central Nizhny Novgorod region overnight, Ukrainian drone forces commander Robert Brovdi said on Sunday, Reuters reported.

He added that other drones had also hit the Baltic Sea port of Primorsk, which is used by Russia's oil transport company Transneft to ship oil abroad.

Meanwhile, Russian forces have intensified operations along the front lines, launching new offensives in eastern and southern Ukraine while continuing frequent missile and drone attacks on cities and infrastructure. Despite the escalation, Moscow’s territorial gains remain limited, with roughly 20% of Ukraine still under Russian control.

Ukrainian officials say Russian troops are attempting coordinated advances across multiple sectors, even as Kyiv faces resource constraints and growing pressure on its air defence systems.
