A video of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has gone viral for threatening and ordering a lady IPS officer to stop her action against illegal soil excavation in Solapur. In a two-minute viral video, Ajit Pawar is purportedly seen having a heated exchange with an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Anjana Krishna, a sub-divisional police officer, on a phone call.

In the video, it is seen that Pawar is talking to Krishna on the phone of a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) worker on August 31, telling her to stop her work in Solapur.

Krishna had reached Solapur's Kurdu village to take action on the complaint of illegal excavation of 'murrum' soil for road construction. While she was on the field doing her work, she received a call on the phone of an NCP worker, ordering her to stop her work immediately.

Pawar is heard saying, "Suno, mai deputy chief minister bol raha hu aur aapko aadesh deta hu ki vo rokwao (Listen, I am the deputy chief minister and giving you the order to stop it).”

Krishna, who failed to recognise Pawa’s voice, asked him to call on her mobile phone. In the viral video, Pawar is heard threatening an officer of action against her as she stands in a field with NCP workers. "Mai tere upar action lunga (I will take action against you),” Pawar said.

Pawar further tells Krishna, "Tujhe mujhe dekhna hai na. Tera number de do ya WhatsApp call karo. Mera chehra toh aapko samajh me aaega na (You want to see me, right? Give me your number or call me on WhatsApp. You will recognise my face, right?).”

"Itna aapko daring hua hai kya (how dare you)," he asked the officer. Then follows a video call in which Pawar is purportedly seen telling the officer to stop her work.

Making a statement regarding the incident, NCP MP Sunil Tatkare said the video was deliberately leaked and claimed that Mr Pawar didn't intend to stop the action, but he might have attempted to calm the party workers on the ground.

"Ajit Dada may have chided the IPS officer to placate party workers. He didn't mean to stop the action completely," he said.
