Mumbai Upcoming Bridges:  The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to open seven new bridges in busy metropolitan and suburban locations to ease everyday commutes and increase vehicle circulation. The bridges will be operational in phases by March 2025.

Mumbai: Upcoming Bridges And Their Locations

The new bridges are carefully situated at key traffic bottlenecks in Mumbai. Let's have a look!

Bandra-Dharavi Bridge:  Crossing the Mithi River, this bridge would link the Western Express Highway (WEH) with Bandra Fire Station.

Vikhroli Railway Overbridge (ROB):  Smoother travel over railways will be made possible by a new ROB close to Vikhroli train station.

Carnac Overbridge:  Located on P’D Mello Road, between Sandhurst Road and Masjid Bunder, this bridge will enhance east-west connectivity.

Jai Hind Colony Bridge (Mulund):  A new vehicular bridge designed to ease traffic congestion in Mulund.

Mrunaltai Gore Flyover Extension (Goregaon):  An extension of the existing flyover aimed at reducing peak-hour traffic.

Shankar Lane-Irani Wadi ROB (Kandivali West):  A new bridge replacing an old railway overbridge for smoother travel.

Charkop Bridge:  A significant addition to the city’s traffic infrastructure.

How Will The Bridges Ease Mumbai Traffic

These bridges will greatly enhance traffic flow once they are in use. For instance, the Carnac Overbridge is an essential east-west link that will relieve traffic on P'D Mello Road. Similar to this, the Bandra-Dharavi bridge across the Mithi River would connect to WEH and the Coastal Road while also reducing traffic at Mahim Church Junction and Mahim Causeway. It is anticipated that the Mrunaltai Gore Flyover expansion would alleviate traffic jams that stretch for kilometres during rush hour.
