Addressing back-to-back rallies amid the intensifying assembly election campaigning, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that the BJP will leave no stone unturned to win and that the party will make up for the Lok Sabha losses in the upcoming polls. His remarks came as he attended three rallies in Palghar on Tuesday.
Fadnavis promised the people that if voted to power again the Mahayuti government would waive the farm loans.
"We will make up for whatever losses we faced during this year's Lok Sabha elections. We are confident that the Mahayuti will retain power," Fadnavis said.
In the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti alliance—consisting of the BJP, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's NCP— won only 17 of the 48 seats. Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) emerged stronger, taking home 30 seats, with additional support from a Congress rebel.
The BJP, which was the single largest party in 2019 polls in the state with 23 seats, could only win 9 seats in the 2024 general elections in Maharashtra, indicating a worrying trend for the party.
Farm Loans Would Be Waived
"After the Mahayuti forms a government in the state, a decision would be taken to waive farm loans, which will help alleviate the financial burden on the agrarian community," he said.
Farmers will not be charged electricity bills for the next five years, and a dedicated company will ensure 24-hour power supply for them, the senior BJP leader announced.
Fadnavis highlighted the Lek Ladki Yojana, an initiative to support girl children, and the Mahayuti government's commitment to covering 100% of educational fees for girls in vocational courses.
He assured that the Ladki Bahin Yojana, which benefits 2.5 crore women in Maharashtra, would continue under the Mahayuti government "despite attempts by the opposition to stall it."
Speaking on Palghar’s development, he noted ongoing efforts by the administration, including projects like the proposed Vadhvan Port, the bullet train, and the coastal road. He added that an airport, backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, would be established in Palghar to boost the district's growth.
