Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 Date:  The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections 2024 on Tuesday. The polling for the 288-seat state assembly is set to be held in one phase on November 20, 2024. With the Announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct also comes into effect in the state. Out of 288, 234 seats are general, while 25 are reserved for scheduled tribes and 29 for the scheduled castes. 

Notably, the current assembly in Maharashtra was elected in October 2019 and it will complete its five-year term on November 26. While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ajit Pawar's NCP and Shinde-led Shiv Sena are part of the Mahayuti coalition running the current government; Sharad Pawar's NCP-SCP, Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and Congress constitute the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

Maharashtra Elections 2024: Full Schedule

The nomination for Maharashtra polls will begin with the release of the Gazette notification on October 22, while the nomination will end on October 29. This means MCC will come into effect from October 22 in the state. 

The one-phase polling on 288 seats will take place on November 20, 2024, on a Wednesday, while counting will start on November 23, which will be followed by the results on the same day.

The results of 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra will be declared on November 23, the Election Commission announced.

Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 Details:

This time a total of 9.63 crore voters will participate in the Maharashtra assembly elections. The Commission stated that over 20 lakh young voters have been added to the tally. Among the total voters, a total of 4.97 crore male voters will participate in the celebration of democracy, while 4.66 women electors will be practising their franchise.
