Mumbai Weather: Mumbai is set for another day of rain, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting cloudy skies and light to moderate showers on Tuesday. The city has faced rainfall over the past few days, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions across various areas.
Alerts Across Mumbai And Suburbs
The IMD has issued an orange alert for both Mumbai city and suburban areas, urging residents to exercise caution. Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may drop to 26 degrees Celsius. Maharashtra Rainfall Warnings
Beyond Mumbai, several districts in Maharashtra are under weather alerts. Pune, Thane, Raigad, Satara, Jalna and Aurangabad face an orange alert, while Nashik, Latur, Palghar, Nagpur and Chandrapur are under a yellow alert. The Regional Meteorological Department’s nowcast shows a yellow ‘watch’ for Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Satara and Kolhapur.
Maharashtra: Thunderstorms And Strong Winds Expected
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra. Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to see rain at most places. Squally winds with speeds of 45–55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are expected to continue in these areas.
Maharashtra Weather: Cyclonic Circulation Driving Rain
Officials have linked the persistent rainfall to a cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and nearby regions at mid and upper levels. The movement of this system towards the north-west has contributed to heavy rain in the Konkan region.
Recent Rainfall And Impact
On Friday, Mumbai experienced heavy rain in the afternoon after a cloudy morning. The IMD had initially issued a yellow alert, later upgraded to orange due to the intensity of rainfall. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recorded 61mm of rain between 8:30 AM and 6 PM.
Earlier this week, heavy rainfall across Maharashtra led to eight deaths and left one person missing. Authorities continue to advise residents to stay alert as the rain persists in the state.
