Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several districts of Maharashtra are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that apart from rainfall, these districts are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 60 to 80 kmph. It further stated that the rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. The IMD further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that heavy rain is expected in several districts, including Palghar, Mumbai, Thane, and Nashik. It further informed that multiple other areas, such as the Pune Ghat area, the Satara Ghat area, and the Kolhapur Ghat area, are also expected to witness heavy rainfall for the next few days. The IMD stated that while the rainfall is likely to provide relief from the heat, the rainfall will also lead to other issues such as waterlogging and power outages.

"The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (Mumbai city and suburbs) for the next three hours. For help in an emergency or official purposes, contact the BMC’s main control room helpline number 1916,” the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated in a post on X. Earlier on Saturday, the weather department had stated that a cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the South Andaman Sea has led to rainfall in several states in the past few days.
The weather department also stated that several other states, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, are also likely to receive light to heavy rainfall. While the coastal regions are likely to witness heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other parts are likely to expect light rain.
