Maharashtra Crime: A 21-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Nanded has alleged that her father and brothers murdered her boyfriend due to caste differences. Moments after the 20-year-old man, identified as Saksham Tate, was killed, the woman applied vermillion on her forehead, claiming it was mixed with his blood. She said this act symbolised the marriage her family never allowed.

The videos of her performing final rituals went viral. In the visuals, she is seen applying turmeric on Saksham’s body and telling his family that she considered herself their daughter-in-law. She stated that her relationship had lasted three years and that her family never approved because he belonged to a Scheduled Caste.

Speaking to reporters outside the house, she said her family “lost” despite the killing. “Our love won, even in his death,” she said, adding that she intended to stay with the Tate family. She also demanded the death penalty for her father and brothers.

Woman Claims Police Encouraged Her Brother To Kill Saksham

According to reports, the woman further alleged that her family had taken her to a police station earlier that day in an attempt to file a false case against Saksham. She claimed that two policemen encouraged her brother to kill him rather than pursue false accusations. According to her, the officers allegedly said he should “kill the man” involved with his sister. Police have not confirmed this allegation but said it is under inquiry.

How The Attack Took Place

Police said Saksham was with his friends in Nanded’s old Ganj area on Thursday evening when a confrontation began between him and her brother, Himesh Mamidwar. During the fight, Himesh allegedly fired at him and the bullet struck his ribs. He then reportedly smashed a tile or heavy object on his head, killing him instantly. Officers arrested Himesh, his brother Sahil, their father Gajanan Mamidwar and three others soon after the incident. They have been booked for murder, rioting, unlawful assembly and offences under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Arms Act.

The woman also alleged that her family had repeatedly threatened Saksham and pressured him to convert to Hinduism if he wished to marry her. She said he agreed, but the threats continued.

Police said a detailed investigation is under way, including verifying her claims about the police station remarks.
