Maharashtra: A viral video shows two women publicly confronting and slapping a private bus driver in Kankavli, Sindhudurg district, after he allegedly sent her obscene videos using contact details obtained from a previous ticket booking.
The incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, September 16, near a private travel company’s booking office close to the Kankavli bus stand. According to the NCTV reports, the woman had booked tickets multiple times through the company for travel between Kankavli and Mumbai. It is alleged that the driver accessed her phone number from the company’s booking records and began sending inappropriate content via messaging apps.
After receiving multiple such messages, the woman decided to take action. Accompanied by another woman, she visited the booking office, confronted the driver with evidence on her phone, and slapped him in front of onlookers. A video of the incident has since circulated online, showing the confrontation and the woman’s reaction.
No police complaint has been registered as of now, but the incident has sparked widespread discussion and concern among regular female passengers. Many women use private bus services like the one involved with a sense of trust and security, and the alleged behavior by the driver has been met with anger and disappointment.
The travel company involved has not released an official statement, and authorities have yet to initiate any formal investigation.
In a separate incident, A bus ride in Bengaluru turned into a scene of chaos after a heated argument between a BMTC driver and a woman passenger escalated into a physical altercation.
