Mumbai Airport Advisory: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has advised passengers to make alternate travel arrangements as app-based cab services may be unavailable due to an ongoing drivers’ strike. In a post on X, the airport authorities urged travellers to plan their journey in advance and consider other transport options before heading to the airport.
The disruption comes amid a protest by Ola and Uber drivers, who have raised concerns over the high commission rates charged by cab aggregators. Drivers claim that a large portion of passenger fares is taken by the companies, leaving them with minimal earnings. The strike, which began on July 15, entered its second day on Wednesday. Several reports have emerged of passengers being asked to get out of cabs mid-ride across Mumbai. Some drivers also reportedly faced threats, forcing them to abandon rides.

The protest has significantly affected ride-hailing services in the city, especially around transport hubs. Many drivers gathered at Azad Maidan to demand fairer policies.
In light of the disruptions, union leaders representing the cab drivers have scheduled a meeting with representatives from Ola and Uber at 5:00 PM on Wednesday to discuss a resolution. Meanwhile, the airport urges travellers to plan ahead and consider other modes of transportation during this period of unrest.
