Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to develop a 4.2 kilometre flyover on the LBS Marg to ease traffic congestion on key routes in Mumbai. It stretches from Kalpana Talkies in Kurla West to Pankhe Shah Baba Dargah in Ghatkopar West.
The three junctions - Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, Ghatkopar Station Road, and the Sant Narsi Mehta Road, are stretches affected by severe traffic jams. Additionally, multiple crossroads add to the problem, as per a report by Times of India.
As per the report, the flyover will consist of four-lanes. The roads will be designed to bypass the traffic points. The flyover will typically ease snarls at the Sarvodaya Hospital junction, Shreyas junction, and the signal near the BMC yard at Sant Narsi Mehta Road.
The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) has been asked to develop designs and construction methodology by the BMC. The flyover will be constructed at a second level, above the Metro corridor as the area already has ongoing projects.
In another news, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the upcoming 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor will not be used to operate Vande Bharat trains.

While talking to mediapersons in Thane (Maharashtra) on the occasion of the breakthrough of a portion of 21-km long tunnel for high-speed corridor, Vaishnaw said that bullet train and Vande Bharat trains operate on two different platforms.
Vaishnaw's statement dismissed media reports which earlier said that the Vande Bharat train with 250 kmph running capacity which the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has been asked to develop will run on Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.
