Mumbai Gas Leak: One person was killed and two hospitalised after inhaling toxic fumes following a chemical leak in the Andheri industrial area of Mumbai, on Saturday. Soon after the news about the chemical leak spread, the authorities were alerted. After receiving information about the gas leak, the fire brigade team and other officials rushed to the spot. 

Indiatoday reported the chemical leak took place at around 4.55 pm from a unit in Bhangarwadi of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), leading to the collapse of a few workers after inhaling fumes emitted from the unknown chemical. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) rushed to the spot and conducted a rescue operation at the firm.

According to media reports, three people were affected in the incident. They were rushed to Holy Spirit Hospital, where doctors confirmed the death of one, 20-year-old Ahmad Hussain. He was declared “brought dead.” The other two affected persons were identified as Naushad Ansari (28) and Saba Shaikh (17), and they were admitted to the ICU.

Fire Erupts After Gas Pipeline Leakage In Mumbai's Kurla

Earlier, on Wednesday, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a four-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Kurla West area due to leakage from a gas pipeline. The civic officials said there was no report of any injury to anyone in the fire that started at 1.20 pm at the Mubarak building, behind the LIG Colony, in Vinoba Bhave Nagar.

At least four fire engines and other firefighting vehicles were sent to the spot, an official said. Staff from the Mahangar Gas Limited, 108 ambulance service and local ward office were also deployed at the scene.
