Mumbai News: A 25-year-old model lost her life in a hit-and-run accident in Bandra West on Thursday evening. The victim, identified as Shivani Singh, was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by a friend, who sustained a leg fracture in the collision.

According to the Bandra Police, the incident occurred around 8 PM on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road when a water tanker collided head-on with the motorcycle. Shivani was thrown from the bike and tragically came under the wheels of the tanker.

According to Times Of India report, bystanders rushed her to Bhabha Hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her friend, wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The tanker driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify and locate him.

 

In separate news, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at seven locations in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, seizing Rs 13.50 crore in alleged crime proceeds linked to a case against Nashik Merchant Cooperative (NAMCO) Bank. The case involves suspicious deposits exceeding Rs 100 crore in 14 newly opened bank accounts. Siraj A. M. Harun Memon and accomplices allegedly used fake identity documents for money laundering. The investigation revealed funds were transferred to 21 sole proprietary concerns and further routed through fake accounts. Arrested suspects Nagani Akram M. Shafi and Vasim V. Bhesaniya, under instructions from Mehmood Bhagad, distributed the cash via 'hawala' operators.
