Mumbai Local Train Update: Western Railway on Tuesday announced the cancellation of 102 Mumbai local train services scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The disruption is due to the suspension of entry and exit at the Kandivali car shed as part of operational work on the suburban rail network.
Officials said the move is necessary to carry out essential maintenance and system-related activities.
Speed Restrictions On Fast Lines
In addition to the cancellations, speed restrictions will be imposed on both Up and Down fast lines between Kandivali and Malad during the block period on January 21. Western Railway warned that train movement on the fast corridors may remain affected even for services that continue to run.
Passengers Asked To Plan Ahead
Railway officials have advised commuters to check updated schedules before starting their journey. Passengers have been urged to plan their travel in advance to avoid delays and inconvenience, especially during peak hours.
The detailed list of cancelled services has been shared with suburban station masters, and commuters can access the information at their nearest stations.
Similar Disruption On January 20
Earlier, Western Railway had announced a mega block at the Kandivali car shed on Monday, January 20. Several local train services were cancelled on that day as well due to the suspension of entry and exit at the same facility.
An official statement said the block was part of ongoing operational work aimed at improving the efficiency and safety of the Mumbai suburban rail system.

Services Affected On Consecutive Days
Along with the car shed suspension on January 20, speed limits were also enforced on the fast lines between Kandivali and Malad. This resulted in multiple service cancellations on that day too.
Western Railway has reiterated that such blocks are necessary for long-term improvements but may cause short-term inconvenience to commuters. Passengers have been advised to stay updated through official railway announcements.
