Mumbai News: Mumbai Police have arrested three men, including the son and business partner of a 69-year-old businessman, in connection with his murder at an office in Charkop, Kandivali (West). The killing took place on Sunday morning and officers said financial and property disputes were at the root of the crime.

The deceased, identified as Mohammad Ayub Sayyed, ran a metals business and owned factories in Vasai and Charkop. According to investigators, Ayub’s son, Hamid Ayyub Sayyed (41) and his business associate, Shanu Mushtaq Chaudhary (40), conspired to eliminate him. Police said the duo allegedly hired contract killers for Rs 6.5 lakh, of which Rs 1 lakh had already been paid in advance.

Shanu, a betel nut trader from Navi Mumbai, is believed to have contacted Mohammad Khairul Islam Qadir Ali (27), whom he knew from before, to carry out the killing. Khairul agreed on the condition that his associate could join him in the attack.

On Sunday, two assailants arrived at Ayub’s Charkop office around 11:30 am. They stayed for nearly half an hour before stabbing him multiple times with sharp weapons on his abdomen, back, and hands. The attackers fled soon after, leaving the elderly businessman fatally injured.

CCTV cameras installed at the premises captured the suspects entering the office with a bag and leaving empty-handed after the murder. Later, police recovered the same bag, which contained blood-stained weapons, hidden inside a water tank on the premises.
