Mumbai News: A ninth-grade student at Podar International School in Seawoods died by suicide on Friday. Police are still investigating the reasons behind this incident. Authorities reported that the boy arrived at school around 6:30 AM, as he usually did. While other students were gathering for the morning assembly, he climbed to the fifth floor, where the canteen is located.
CCTV footage revealed that the student climbed over the grills and reached the adjacent parapet, the only area of the building with an opening, according to the investigating officer from the NRI Coastal police station.
The school administration quickly transported him to Apollo Hospital in Nerul, but he was declared dead before arrival. His body was subsequently sent to a municipal hospital in Vashi for a postmortem examination.
The Hindustan Times report quoted a parent of another student, whose child was scheduled for the afternoon shift, stating that the school canceled classes due to "an unforeseen incident." She noted that final examinations for ninth graders had already begun, and on that day, students were set to take their graded Marathi exam.
Senior police inspector from the NRI Coastal police station confirmed that an Accidental Death Report has been registered and investigations are ongoing.
