Mumbai Water Cut: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 24-hour water shutdown in multiple parts of the city on December 12 and 13 due to large-scale pipeline connection work. The interruption will begin at 9 AM on Friday, December 12 and continue until 9 AM on Saturday, December 13, affecting several areas in the K/East, H/East and G/North wards.

Officials said the shutdown is necessary as the civic body will be connecting major water mains to improve long-term supply and system reliability. Some localities, especially in the K/East ward, may receive water at low pressure during the period.

Major Pipelines To Be Connected

According to the BMC, the work includes linking several key pipelines, the 1800 mm Tansa West main, the 1200 mm main, the 2400 mm Vaitarna line, and a 1500 mm main in the G/North ward. The civic body stated that these upgrades will strengthen the city’s water distribution network, as reported by a Mid-day report.

The BMC has listed the neighbourhoods that will experience a complete shutdown or reduced pressure:

G/North Ward (Dharavi Region)

December 12: Dharavi Loop Road, A.K.G. Nagar, Dharavi Main Road, Ganesh Mandir Road, Dilip Kadam Road, Jasmine Mill Road, Mahim Phatak

December 13: Jasmine Mill Road, Matunga Labour Camp, Sant Rohidas Road, 60 Feet Road, 90 Feet Road, Sant Kakkiya Road, M.P. Nagar, Mahatma Gandhi Road

K/East Ward

December 12: Marol, Military Road, Vasant Oasis, Gaondevi, Gundavali, Chakala, Bamanwada, Maheshwari Nagar, Bhawani Nagar, Kondivita, Airport Road areas, JB Nagar, Bagaraka Road and nearby locations

Low pressure on December 12: Koldongri, Old Police Galli, Vijay Nagar (Sahar Road), Mogarpada

December 13: Om Nagar, Kanti Nagar, Rajasthan Nagar, Sahar Village, Sutar Pakhadi

H/East Ward

December 12: Entire Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Motilal Nagar

December 13: Prabhat Colony, CST Road (south side), Yashwant Nagar, Sunder Nagar, Golibar Road to Kherwadi, Behram Nagar, Government Colony, Bandra (East)
