Mumbai Weather: As monsoon continues to intensify in several parts of Mumbai, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for heavy rain on July 8 and July 10. Cloudy skies are likely to persist with chances of moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the week. Heavy rain may disrupt traffic and cause waterlogging in several places, especially in low-lying areas.

Following an increase in water levels due to continuous rain in the catchment area, three gates of the Middle Vaitarna Dam in Palghar district were opened on Monday afternoon, BMC said. In a release issued in the evening, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said, “Water is currently being released at a rate of 3,000 cusecs from gates numbered 1, 3, and 5, which are lifted by 30 centimetres, of the Middle Vaitarna Dam.”
