Mumbai Doctor Assault News: A female resident doctor was allegedly assaulted by a patient and his intoxicated relatives at Sion Hospital early Sunday morning. This incident has sparked outrage, particularly in the wake of the recent rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, which has shocked the nation.

The attack reportedly occurred around 3:30 am while the doctor was on duty in the ward. The patient, who arrived at the hospital with facial injuries, began to verbally abuse and threaten the doctor during his treatment.

According to witnesses, the group of five to six drunk men, including the patient, then physically assaulted her. The doctor sustained injuries while attempting to defend herself during the attack.

NDTV report quoted, Dr Akshay More, head of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Medical Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) as saying, "This incident underscores a serious concern about safety in Mumbai’s healthcare facilities.” Following the assault, both the patient and his relatives fled the scene.

Currently, the doctor is providing her statement at Sion Police Station, where a First Information Report (FIR) is being lodged.

Members of BMC MARD who accompanied her expressed their concern over the situation. They called the attack an “alarming incident” that highlights significant security failures within hospitals. "Our doctors' safety is non-negotiable. This situation demands immediate attention and the implementation of robust security measures in all healthcare facilities," they asserted.
