Nagpur Metro Update: The Maha-Metro officials have reportedly stated that Nagpur Metro’s Phase 3 expansion plan has been revised, adding that the metro services will be expanded in several new regions. While providing details, they stated that the services will be expanded up to the upcoming New Nagpur township. The metro services are also likely to be expanded in the industrial areas of the city. The officials stated that expansion will boost the regional connectivity significantly, adding that it will provide relief to the commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion. Apart from this, the expansion of metro services is also expected to boost the financial activities in the city.
The officials, while providing the update, stated that the revised blueprint has already been forwarded to the state government for consideration, reported the Times of India. They further stated that the project will connect the residential areas of the city to the industrial regions. "The proposed Metro alignment will branch out near Metro City stations of Phase 2, extending towards New Nagpur, which is expected to emerge as a major residential, commercial, and institutional hub in the coming years," one of the officials was quoted as saying by TOI.

They further stated that while the initial plan was to link Sitabuldi with Koradi, two new corridors are also set to be added under the same phase to boost the connectivity. They added that the city is likely to witness significant growth in the upcoming years, leading to a surge in demands of public transportation. Better connectivity to the industrial regions is expected to provide relief to thousands of commuters on a daily basis.

The authority stated that the tenders for preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for the new corridors will be issued within a month.
