Back in 1989, she left her home, leaving behind her husband, son, and young daughter. Over the years, tragedy struck the family she had left behind, her husband passed away six years ago, and her son succumbed to an illness two years ago. Her only surviving child, a daughter, is now 38 years old. For decades, her family mourned her, believing she was no longer alive.
How Authorities Found Her ?
According to the TOI report, in 2018, authorities located the missing woman at a shelter home in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. During her time there, she gave birth to another daughter, who grew up speaking Bengali within the shelter system. In 2024, both mother and daughter were shifted to Kasturba Women’s Home in Mumbai. The staff there began to suspect that she might originally be from Nagpur.
The following year, she was transferred to the Government Priyadarshini Women’s Home in Nagpur. Because of her fragile mental health, she was admitted to the Regional Mental Hospital, where superintendent Kunda Bidkar and psychiatrist Dr. Pankaj Bagde took special interest in her case.
During conversations, she faintly recalled the name ‘Butibori’, a place connected to her father’s work as a postmaster. Acting on this clue, Bidkar began combing through old post office records. After three days of searching, he discovered a vital reference to Jaitala, where her in-laws once lived.
