Online Scam Alert: A Pune businessman was allegedly scammed of Rs 43.5 lakh by online fraudsters, who lured him with promises of large stock market investment returns. The person, resident of Ambegaon Khurd, filed a complain to the Ambegaon police station after he discovered that he was defrauded.
The businessman was urged to participate in the stock market via a message on his mobile phone that promised him substantial profits, according to the complaint.
He made a modest initial investment and saw some returns, which boosted his confidence. The victim was persuaded to make additional investments over the course of the following four to five months, ultimately transferring Rs 43.5 lakh.
The returns, however, stopped and the scammers offered vague answers and finally deactivated their phones when the victim attempted to get in touch with them.
The victim contacted the police after realizing he was scammed and filed a complaint. Inspector Gajanan Chormole of the Crime Branch is currently in charge of the inquiry.
In a different incident, fraudsters attacked an elderly resident of Vadgaon Budruk. The victim unintentionally gave access to his account after submitting personal and financial information on a fraudulent link that he got via SMS. After hacking the account, the scammers moved Rs 9,99,999 without approval.
A complaint has been filed at the Sinhagad Road Police Station, and Inspector Uttam Bhajanawale is in charge of the inquiry.
