Pune Traffic Advisory: Several key roads in Pune will remain closed for traffic on January 19 due to the prologue event of the Pune Grand Tour 2026, a major international cycling competition. The restrictions will be in place from 9 AM to 6 PM to ensure the smooth conduct of the race.
The Pune Grand Tour 2026 is being organised by the Pune district administration in association with the Cycle Federation of India. It is a UCI 2.2 category cycle race, the first of its kind in the region. The overall race will cover a distance of 437 kilometres and will be held in four stages from January 19 to January 24.
The prologue event on January 19 will feature an 8-kilometre individual time trial. The race will begin at Goodluck Chowk on F C Road and end at Deccan Bus Stop on J M Road. Due to this, traffic movement on several major routes will be restricted throughout the day.
According to a press release issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, F C Road, J M Road and University Road will remain closed during the event. Vehicles using these routes will be diverted through alternative roads.
Pune Traffic Advisory: Road closures And diversions
- The stretch from Khandoji Baba Chowk to Goodluck Chowk via Garware Bridge will be closed.
- Vehicles travelling from Swargate towards Savitribai Phule Pune University and Khadki via the old Pune–Mumbai highway will be diverted to alternate routes.
- The section of F C Road between Goodluck Chowk and Lalit Mahal Hotel will remain shut. Traffic will be diverted through Prabhat Road, Law College Road, Bhandarkar Road and Senapati Bapat Road.

- A stretch of University Road from Chapekar Chowk to Range Hills Corner will also be closed. Vehicles heading towards the university junction will need to take alternate routes.
- The road from Range Hills Chowk to Sancheti Hospital via Shimla Office Junction will remain closed during the race.
- Traffic will also be restricted on J M Road from Sancheti Hospital to Deccan Bus Stop via Balgandharva Auditorium.
Police have advised commuters to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with traffic authorities to avoid inconvenience during the event.
