Pune Weather: Pune remains in the grip of a prolonged cold spell, with minimum temperatures dropping to single digits for the eighth day in a row. Weather officials said several parts of the district, including city neighbourhoods and surrounding rural areas, have recorded night temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, marking one of the longest cold waves in recent times.

Pune Weather: Why Temperatures Are Falling

Meteorologists have linked the extended chill to clear skies and low wind speeds. The lack of cloud cover has allowed heat to escape quickly after sunset, leading to sharp cooling during the night. Calm weather conditions have further intensified the drop in minimum temperatures.

Despite the cold nights and early mornings, daytime temperatures in Pune have remained relatively pleasant. This has resulted in a noticeable contrast between warm afternoons and cold mornings, catching many residents off guard.

The sustained cold has begun to affect daily routines across the city. Early mornings have become particularly uncomfortable, with residents stepping out wrapped in woollens and layered clothing. Public spaces and morning walks have seen fewer people during the coldest hours.
