Pune News: Pune continues to face an intense drop in temperatures, with the city experiencing a steady decline in minimum temperatures over the past few days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Pune, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar, cautioning that cold wave-like conditions are likely to continue until December 4. Meteorologists expect the chill to extend further, possibly until December 12-13.

Pune Weather: Clear Skies And Northern Winds Drive Temperature Drop

Weather experts attribute the sudden drop in night temperatures across Maharashtra to clear skies, dry air and strong northerly winds. Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius, leading to severe cold during the night and early hours of the morning.

Although the region saw a brief rise in temperatures around November 21-22 due to a low-pressure system and successive cyclones in the Bay of Bengal, colder conditions have returned with greater intensity. The city has witnessed a fall of 3-4 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures in the last five days, marking the beginning of a prolonged cold spell.

Pune Weather: IMD Warns Of Continued Chill

The Pune Mirror report cited Senior Meteorologist Dr Anupam Kashyapi as explaining that the combination of clear skies, low humidity and strong winds from the north is increasing the cold. He said that central Maharashtra, including Pune, is currently experiencing cold wave-like conditions and that only slight variations in temperature are expected in the coming days.
