Mumbai News: In Mumbai, a comedy show featuring stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has led to significant unrest among Shiv Sena members. On Sunday, workers from Shiv Sena vandalised the Unicontinental Hotel in Khar, where Kamra performed a set that included a dig at Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. This incident followed the viral spread of a video showcasing Kamra's remarks on social media.

The situation escalated as members of Yuva Sena, the party's youth wing, gathered outside the Wagle Estate Police Station in Thane. They burned photographs of Kamra and demanded that police file a formal complaint against him. The controversial video was also circulated by Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT), who captioned it "Kunal Ka Kamal."

During his performance, Kamra modified a popular song from the Bollywood movie Dil To Pagal Hai, which drew laughter from the crowd but angered Shiv Sena leaders. Naresh Mhaske, a Shiv Sena MP, publicly condemned Kamra, labelling him a "hired comedian" who was allegedly paid by Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), to insult Shinde. Mhaske warned that Kamra would not be safe anywhere in India, stating, "Shiv Sainiks will show him his place." He likened Kamra's actions to "stepping on the tail of a snake," suggesting severe repercussions.

Echoing Mhaske's sentiments, Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel insisted that Kamra should be "shown his level" and called for an apology from the comedian. Meanwhile, Aaditya Thackeray, a Sena (UBT) MLA, condemned the vandalism at the hotel, describing it as a "cowardly" act. In a post on X, he stated, "Mindhe’s coward gang breaks the comedy show stage where comedian @kunalkamra88 put out a song on Eknath Mindhe, which was 100 percent true. Only an insecure coward would react to a song." Thackeray also raised concerns over the state's law and order, suggesting that the incident reflects poorly on the Chief Minister and Home Minister.

Additionally, an FIR has been registered against Shiv Sena Yuva Sena (Shinde faction) General Secretary Rahool Kanal and 19 others for vandalising the Habitat stand-up comedy venue. The case has been filed under multiple sections of the BNS and Maharashtra Police Act.

Authorities confirmed they are investigating the incident and assessing the damage caused by the vandalism.
